Friends of Asia Hong Kong is pleased to announce that for the second consecutive year, it has entered into an agreement with the Hong Kong Golf Club and the European Tour to be designated as the Official Tournament Charity for the UBS Hong Kong Open.
Friends of Asia Hong Kong’s mission is to inspire and support the public through the development of important programs, resources and events that promote physical (and spiritual) wellness. Established in 2014, its goal is to engage people within the context of sports, health and recreation to raise funds and awareness for related needs within the community, as well as foster an environment rich in values like integrity, teamwork, and social responsibility.
“Following on the success of last year’s launch of Friends of Asia Hong Kong’s charitable efforts, we are delighted to once again partner with such a well-established, history-rich and respected event as the UBS Hong Kong Open”, said Caleb Chan, Friends of Asia Hong Kong founder. “The fundamental belief upon which Friends of Asia is built centers around the spirit of giving and the importance of helping others, and we hope to make a significant impact to select well-deserving local charities”.
The UBS Hong Kong Open is the signature fundraising event for Friends of Asia HK, where with the help of generous donors all monies raised throughout the event and the Charity Cup will be matched by Friends of Asia HK for a minimum of 1 million HKD, and awarded to three designated fundraising beneficiaries: Playright Hospital Play Services – providing treatment, support and comfort through play to ill children in local hospitals; InspiringHK Sports Foundation – improving the lives of disadvantaged youth through the medium of sport; and the Autism Partnership Foundation’s Aoi Pui School – Hong Kong’s only school devoted to supporting autistic youth. The Aoi Pui School was also a beneficiary of last year’s Hong Kong Open where Friends of Asia Hong Kong donated HKD 100,000 to the school, which was matched by the Hong Kong Golf Club. These funds were used to financially support local youth suffering from autism spectrum disorder to attend Aoi Pui School.
