About the UBS Hong Kong Open

The Hong Kong Open is Hong Kong’s oldest professional sporting event.  Beginning in 1959, the Hong Kong Open became part of The European Tour International Schedule in the 2002 season and has a rich history of winners including ten different Major Champions who have amassed 27 Major titles between them.  UBS, the diversified global financial services company, has been title sponsor of the event since 2005. The Asian Tour is a co-sanctioning partner of the championship.

About the Mega Events Fund

This year, the UBS Hong Kong Open is sponsored by the Mega Events Fund of the Hong Kong SAR Government.  The Mega Events Fund was set up in 2009 to support mega arts, cultural, sports and entertainment events to be staged in Hong Kong.  Funding approval was obtained from the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council in April 2012 to extend the operation of the Fund for five years to attract more internationally acclaimed mega events to Hong Kong and reinforce Hong Kong’s position as the Events Capital of Asia.
