Formula E Racing Hong Kong, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Hong Kong Golf Club Announce a Hong Kong Sporting Spectacular – A Season of World-Class Sport in Asia’s World City campaign

For three weeks from 23 November, sports fans and event goers in Hong Kong will be spoilt for choice as three of the city’s biggest international sporting events – The UBS Hong Kong Open, HKT Hong Kong E-Prix, and Longines Hong Kong International Races – will take place over 21 days, showcasing Hong Kong’s pole position as a hub for hosting world class sportainment events.

These three Hong Kong sporting spectacles are expected to host well over 160,000 spectators, offering a season of world-class sport in the heart of Asia’s World City.

The three organizers will unite forces to promote the events to their respective fans in Hong Kong and around the world at the events and across their respective social media channels; partner to offer unique experience for members of the public; and add incentive for those hunting the triple trio of sporting excitement with ticketing discounts and giveaways on offer across all three sporting spectaculars.

Mr Anthony Kelly, Executive Director of Racing Business and Operations of the HKJC, said, “The Hong Kong Jockey Club is deeply involved in supporting all sport in Hong Kong.  As such, our collaboration with two of the city’s premier sporting events was a natural step for us to deepen this engagement.  In future we hope to engage with other interested parties, such as the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Hong Kong Hotels Association and such to promote Hong Kong to as wide an audience as possible during this period.  It is incredibly exciting to have all three events run subsequent to each other and it is a fabulous opportunity for Hong Kong to promote itself on a wider scale.”

Mr Arnold Wong, Captain of the Hong Kong Golf Club said, “The UBS Hong Kong Open welcomes this collaboration with the 2017 FIA Formula-E HKT Hong Kong E-Prix and the Longines Hong Kong International Races. Staged over consecutive weeks from 23 November to 10 December, these three events reaffirm Hong Kong’s position as a major international destination for world class sporting events. We look forward to working together with our partners at the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Formula Electric Racing in the weeks ahead to showcase these three fantastic events for the benefit of Hong Kong residents and international visitors alike.”

“The UBS Hong Kong Open has a TV broadcast platform reaching over 500 million households. Combined, the global broadcast of the three events will be impressive and will really underline the international value that these events bring to Hong Kong and its status as Asia’s world city.” said Mr Wong.

The 2017 UBS Hong Kong Open, HKT Hong Kong E-Prix, and Longines Hong Kong International Races, are all accredited events celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The HKSAR Government and Hong Kong Tourism Commission fully support these three international sporting spectacles.

Formula E is a ground-breaking international urban street racing championship with races in some of the world’s major cities including New York City, London, Paris and Hong Kong.

The 2017 HKT Hong Kong E-Prix will launch the fourth season of the FIA Formula E championship with the first ever double header race in Asia with two distinct races held along Hong Kong’s iconic Central Harbourfront on December 2 and 3.
